And for real aficionados and completists it’s good to have everything in one volume like this. All the editions include the juvenilia written at school, and the half dozen stories written at Oxford, to bulk up the books. What all the editions tend to highlight is that Evelyn Waugh did not, in fact, write many short stories. I read the Penguin one but the Everyman edition (which includes a few more stories than the Penguin) is the one that’s available online. There are several editions of his collected short stories, notable the Everyman one and the Penguin one. During that period he published some 26 short stories. Waugh was a professional writer from the year he published his first short story in 1926 till his death in 1966. ![]()
